Every child has feelings. The loud ones, the wobbly ones, the wonderful ones and everything in between. My Magical Belt was created to help children understand those feelings and discover the tools that can help them through them.
Our Story
Big feelings are part of growing up.
Knowing what to do with them takes practice.
We’re Sharon and Lucy, a Psychologist and an Occupational Therapist who have spent years working alongside children and families through all kinds of feelings. The loud ones. The wobbly ones. The frustrated ones. And the ones that are a little harder to put into words.
Through our work, we kept seeing the same gap. Children could learn wonderful strategies in a therapy room, classroom or conversation, but remembering what to do when a big feeling actually arrived? That was the tricky part.
We wanted to make those strategies easier for children to understand, practise and eventually reach for themselves.
So, we combined what we know best. Psychology met occupational therapy. Evidence-based strategies met stories and play. And a little zebra named Ziggy came to life.
And My Magical Belt was born.
Through the series, children follow Ziggy as he experiences everyday emotions and discovers different magical tools that can support him along the way.
Each story is paired with a tangible tool, giving children the chance to practise what they're learning. They can breathe with the Bubble Bottle, move with the Movement Dice, pause and focus with the Sparkle Disc, or stretch and squeeze with the Squishy.
Because emotional regulation isn't about making big feelings disappear. It's about helping children understand what they're feeling, notice what their body might need, and discover tools that can help.
